The Willow Tree - Pamela West |
“Willows never forget how
it feels to be young.
Do you remember where
you came from?”

The
willow is my favorite tree. I grew up near one. It's the most flexible
tree in nature and nothing can break it - no wind, no elements, it can
bend and withstand anything.

its branches in bunches then run across
the grass and narrow cement walk that led
to the back door, so I could bend my legs
at the knees to lift them from the ground
and soar swiftly back across the yard again.
I was flying.
I miss that willow.

Chad and Jeremy - 1964
Willow weep for me.
willow weep for me.
Bend your branches green
Bend your branches green
along the stream
that runs to sea.
Listen to my plea.
Listen to my plea.
Listen willow and weep for me.
Gone my lover's dream,
Gone my lover's dream,
lovely summer's dream.
Gone and left me here to weep
Gone and left me here to weep
my tears into the stream.
Sad as I can be -
Sad as I can be -
hear me willow and weep for me.
Whisper to the wind and
Say that love has sinned
To leave my heart aching and
To leave my heart aching and
making this moan.
Murmur to the night
Murmur to the night
to hide her starry light,
So none will find me sighing
So none will find me sighing
and crying all alone.
Weeping willow tree,
Weeping willow tree,
weep in sympathy.
Bend your branches down along
Bend your branches down along
the ground and cover me.
When the shadows fall,
When the shadows fall,
bend, oh, willow and weep for me.
Willow Tree - Ashlee Merchant |
“The willow which bends to the tempest,
often escapes better than the oak which resists it;
and so in great calamities, it sometimes happens
that light and frivolous spirits recover their elasticity
and presence of mind sooner than those of a
loftier character.”
Sir Walter Scott
“Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked,
Sir Walter Scott
“Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked,
while the bamboo or willow survives by
bending with the wind.”
Bruce Lee
“The oak fought the wind and was broken,
Bruce Lee
“The oak fought the wind and was broken,
the willow bent when it must and survived.”

When Dannys(jr) kids were younger I would pick them up and go to Cindy's house to see Bryan and Celeste and as soon as we got close we would see the big weeping willow and they would yell and say mamaw there is "mother willow" we are close to cindys house.. I think they got that from Pocohantas..jmc
